Newsgroups are a system of many-to-many communication that have often been used as a method of communication between furries, although they are arguably less important nowadays due to the rise of furry websites, mailing lists and forums.

Most newsgroups are in the alt.* hierachy, although there is a separate fur.* hierachy, part of the Furrynet project.
