Chuck E. was originally found in the Chuck E. Cheese Pizza Time Theatre where he would perform music and show in picture frames overhead the customers with the "Pizza Time Players", featuring Crusty the Cat, Jasper T. Jowls, Pasqually, and the Warblettes. Later this concept was added onto by cabaret shows in separate rooms of each restaurant, featuring Dolli Dimples, a blues singing hippo, Artie Antlers, The King (who sang Elvis tunes), The Beagles (Beatles) and The Beach Bowsers (Beach Boys.) The current incarnation of the company's characters is called "Munch's Make Believe Band", and includes Chuck E., Helen Henny, Mr. Munch, Jasper T. Jowls, and Pasqually.

Occassionally, a Chuck E. fursuiter will do a performance, known as a "Road Show", outside of the normal showroom area, normally around the Kid Check stand or Skee Ball area. Children are gathered via the PA system and told to come dance with Chuck E. to win free tickets. After the dance, Chuck E. and other cast members throw large amounts of tickets into the air for children to collect.

Although Chuck E. is currently a mouse, he was originally a rat before a 1995 facelift. Chuck E. has been voiced by John Widlock (1977- 1982), Scott Wilson (1983-1994), Duncan Brennan (1994 - ) and Jeremy Blaido (1998).
