[edit] Artist

The Wyrm's nom de guerre stems from an old in-joke concerning one of the artist's favourite passtimes, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, and a strong affinity for entropic phenomena. A large portion of the Wyrm's art concerns characters and storylines from various W:TA chronicles.

Identifying as genderqueer, possible therian, a long-time gamer, and unabashedly holding a number of unpopular/controversial opinions and interests, the Wyrm manages to touch numerous elements of the furry fandom while remaining on its outskirts. Therianthropy is listed as "possible" because the artist has not ruled out the possibility that his/her lycanthropic experiences are the result of mental illness.

[edit] Artwork

The Wyrm has been drawing since s/he was old enough to hold a crayon and writing fiction and poetry since fourth grade, and has spent most of his/her life taking lessons for both disciplines. Most of this art is pencil, digital (using openCanvas and PhotoShop), or a combination thereof. S/he also works in inks, coloured pencils, watercolour, acrylic paint, and polymer clay, and has experimented with other media, such as leather and bone.

Where subject is concerned, s/he prefers to create violent, chaotic, emotive, disturbing, and homoerotic pieces. The Wyrm's expertise lies in canines and humans.

For the most part the Wyrm's writing does not relate to the furry fandom.

[edit] Lost Souls Productions

Since 1997, the Wyrm has used the name Lost Souls Productions (LSP) as a trademark for all his/her creative ventures, from artwork to chapbooks to websites. The studio consists of the Wyrm and the Wyrm's mate, who provides technical support for the artist's electronic needs. Currently LSP's symbol consists of a variation on the chaos star, but an alternate form consisting of a spiral within a wolf's pawprint has been used as well.

[edit] Characters

[edit] Umbra

Originally the Wyrm used Shadow-in-the-Rain, a black-and-grey wolf with blue eyes and a light dorsal stripe, as a self-representation. In 2006 the character was redesigned as Umbra, a wolfwere bearing more physical features of the artist (such as piercings, scars, tattoos, and ambiguous gender) and a strict set of forms. Umbra's natural form (a nonmorphic wolf) is actually Shadow-in-the-Rain, which technically makes the character an antherion — a tongue-in-cheek contrast to the artist's therianthropy.

[edit] Other characters

In addition to the persona Umbra, the Wyrm also has numerous characters from role playing games and original fiction. Those most commonly appearing in artwork include:

  • Fever: nonmorphic Namib Desert Feral mare with an uncontrollable temper
  • Highball: Black Spiral Dancer musician and junkie
  • JaCob: emaciated Cheshire Cat-like creature personifying self-destructive homicidal mania
  • Klysm: jackal-morph revenant bent on avenging her own murder
  • Malachai: sadistic albino Black Spiral Dancer metis
  • R'hkngk: wolf-born Black Spiral Dancer, protagonist of the in-progress graphic novella "Vicious Cycles"
