Heavy Horse's primary interest in furry fandom is anthropomorphic-themed writing. He discovered furry fandom through Jordan "Greywolf" Peacock's unicorn artwork. His fan name comes from his interest in equines both magical and mundane as well as a tribute to the song made famous by the rock group Jethro Tull. He was born 1 November 1954.

Five of his stories (written under another name) were published in PawPrints Fanzine during that fanzine's lifetime. Outside of the furry community, his fiction ranges from My Little Pony fanfics to Lovecraftian Horror. He is currently making the rounds for professional publication of his first novel (Seven Sisters, a children's/young adult fantasy) as well as a few short stories (including Canticle of the Wolf and Coventry House originally published in PawPrints Fanzine) and is collaborating with Ken Pick on a second (Adventures of Jill Noir, a semi-furry space-opera).

Heavy Horse also moderates/hosts The Unicorn and Gryphon on Yahoo groups, as well as Christian_Fic2 (Christian genre fiction) and Unicorn Writers (equine-based genre fiction). Heavy Horse regularly attends Anthrocon due to its locality to the mid-atlantic states.
