Ellen Dekker, also known as MistyStriker, is a furry artist who lives in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Born February 3, 1986, in Darwin, Australia; Misty moved to Brisbane in early 2004 and then moved down to Melbourne in September 2007. After moving between various housing arrangements, including being a founder of The Den, she now resides in an unnamed furry share-house with Tursiae and ShivalWolf. Her fursona is a two-tailed wolferret (wolf/ferret hybrid).

[edit] Becoming Furry

Possibly a furry from an early age, Misty first picked up a pencil and began scribbling animals when she was around 10 years old. She showed an affinity for animals that echoed in her art, never choosing to draw people unless dictated. Through her Internet access while visiting her father twice a week, Misty discovered Furcadia when she was 13, an incident that changed her life from that moment onward. Her first attempts at furry art were crude versions of a portrait set for Furcadia.

Eventually expanding out beyond Furcadia, Misty discovered VCL and Yahoo!. She applied and succeeded in joining VCL, and began her own Group within Yahoo entitled the "Furry Art Club".

She continued to draw, was provided with Photoshop by her graphics teacher, and was awarded with a Wacom graphics tablet by Inkfox of the drawink LiveJournal community.

She now maintains her own website, FurFetch'd Creations, and her art also resides on the online archives VCL, Fur Affinity and deviantART. Her commission rate, while not steady enough to provide a stable source of income, allows her time to continue to draw for herself, something she continues to be passionate about. She also studies a course in Animal Care via correspondence.

Misty is a raver by nature. She loves electronic and dance music, including the Bonkers mixes, but also appreciates most other genres of music. She loves to collect anything rainbow coloured and has also decorated more than one pair of shoes with fabric paints. Misty also has three piercings, which are echoed within her fursona design.

Misty's social life online exists mainly within three areas, LiveJournal, Furnet and MSN. Her username within these areas is MistyStriker. Misty runs a channel within Furnet called #brisfurs, a gathering place on IRC for the furry community of Brisbane and Queensland. She also frequents #ozfurs, #artcommissions, #dragons, #FurryDramaFest, #thetrollfactory, #furaffinity and #melbournefurs.

Misty attended the 2007 RivFur furmeet. She collaborated with Bingo Dingo to make chibi conbadges for the event. She has also attended the 2004 and 2007 MiDfur furmeets, being the winner of the t-shirt design competition for 2007 where the design was transferred onto various colours of t-shirts and hoodies.

In 2008 she will be attending RivFur in Brisbane. She will once again collaborate with Bingo for character art to those who register and provide descriptions. No plans exist as to her possible attendance at MiDfur X.

MistyStriker Character Sheet

The fursona of MistyStriker is a female wolferret with two tails. Her shoulder length hair is a deep black colour, she has medium blue eyes, and her tongue is pierced with a silver barbell. Her nipples are also pierced with barbells, a horizontal purple in her right and a vertical black in her right nipple. She also has two black tattoos, one ferret paw on her lower left abdomen and one wolf paw on her right buttock next to her tails. Misty's fashion choices range from the simple slogan or picture t-shirt worn with customised graffiti jeans, to all-out crazy raver clothing with rainbows and glowing accessories. She constantly prefers pants to skirts, and never dresses in anything overly feminine. Misty always wears a simple purple collar with a green RSPCA rectangle metal keyring, and a yellow hexagonal registration tag.

MistyStriker is a polymorph, and can shape-shift as she chooses. Any form she takes on is generally a variation of her original wolferret appearance, with the same colourings, markings, and clothing. The forms listed below are just a few examples, as Misty can create any kind of new form as she wishes.

Mistywuff: A non-anthro form of MistyStriker, she is a quadrupedal two-tailed wolferret complete with the standard purple collar.
MiniMisty: A miniature version, standing roughly 6 inches tall. Her appearance is exactly the same as her regular form, only smaller in scale.
MistyRaptor: A velociraptor form, non-anthropomorphic. She has the same colourings as her original form but with only one tail.
MistyMaid: While still an anthro wolferret, MistyMaid dons a customised French maid's outfit for doing house chores.

[edit] Character evolution

MistyStriker began in the year 2000 as a black panther with white markings who was originally a descendant of a distant royal family. But somehow one day the artist chose to represent herself as a simple wolf in the infamous Bad Day picture. Since then, the species has stuck, and while she has undergone slight changes in appearance and style, MistyStriker has remained true to the artist behind her. The change to a wolf-ferret hybrid in 2006 was brought on by Misty realising that she had more characteristics inside herself that were other than wolf. She had also desired for a little bit more of originality and personality in her appearance.

Misty can be found in the online community of Second Life under the name of Oboroten Dorn. She is generally a black gargoyle with purple tentacles, but can also be seen as a white and rainbow kirin with water tentacles. As a model for Anthrogasm Magazine, she appears as a white and rainbow tiger. Her primary lurking spots are Dragon Spire, Furnation Prime, Club Rainbow Tiger, Furry Vermin and Luskwood. Sources of SecondLife income (otherwise known as Lindens) come from working as an artistic co-ordinator and model for Anthrogasm, a DJ at Dragon Spire and Anthrogasm's Dragon's Nest, and an occasional dancer.
