Murr (Murring,) though commonly misconstrued as being a sound for all animals, is a canine version of a cat's purr. It is the growling, half-moan that canines make when being scratched or played with.

It is often used - by furs of many species - in role play as a sound of sexual pleasure, but the murr can be derived from any sense of pleasure, from scritches to gentle stomach rubbings.
