Pawfasting
From WikiFur, the furry encyclopedia.
Pawfasting is the furry version of the Wiccan wedding ritual of Handfasting, in which a couple's clasped hands are ceremonially bound together by a cord or ribbon, as a form of relational commitment.
The furry version does not stray much but in name from the principle of its mundane counterpart, whereas, in this case, it's two furs, either of a hetero or homosexual orientation, partaking in it.
[edit] Ceremony
The betrothal can either be performed in traditional Wiccan style, or by any other means chosen by the parties involved. Pawfastings commonly take place at furry conventions, in a general public area. Anthrocon got so many requests for them that it now declines to host them onsite.[1]
Traditional Wiccan Handfastings are for a year and a day, but pawfastings can be open-ended unless specified at the ceremony.
