A puppet is a character controlled by a human. In the furry community, a physical puppet of an animal character is often called a pawpet.

Many furry conventions have puppet shows, for example, the Funday PawPet Show and Rapid T. Rabbit and Friends, both of which are regularly shown as webcasts or Eurofurence's LSD Pawpet Show.

A puppeteer's hand can get sweaty after using a puppet for an extended period of time. Thin latex gloves are often used to reduce damage to the puppet, and to make it easier to move from one puppet to another.

[edit] Puppets in multiplayer worlds

On MU*s, players may make game objects into puppets to substitute for their own presence at a location, or to take the place of creating an extra character when a "non-player character" type is needed. Such characters may also be called zombies.
