The Den (house)

The Den is a furry share-house in Arana Hills, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Its occupants (Denizens) are Bingo Dingo, KibaWolf, MistyStriker, Tyresk, Jet, and Al, who is a non-fur.

The Den has been in existence since April 26, 2005, when Jaffa Ferel, MistyStriker, and Dimenianz moved into the first house in Carina Heights. In August, 2005, Dimenianz moved out and approximately a week later Dimruthien VerenLaulaja moved to Brisbane from Darwin, Australia. In January 2006, Bingo Dingo also came to call The Den his permanent home. In September 2006, after financial dramas, Jaffa moved out and relocated to Adelaide, Australia. Moreth was looking for a place, so he decided to make The Den his haunt and rental balance was restored. In April 2007, Dimruthien moved back to her hometown of Darwin, Australia, reducing the numbers down to three once again. In the following July, Moreth moved out into The Burrows to live with his partner, FoxofFire, and Rhiannon moved in a week later. The Den lost all its founding members after Misty also moved out, relocating to Melbourne in September 2007. The Den briefly entertained another non-fur replacement until Kiba moved in and he moved out.

Due to problems with the real estate, The Den moved from Carindale to Arana Hills in early 2008. Numerous housemates were added, including Misty, who returned from Melbourne and brought Jet with her. Jet's mate Kidsune is also scheduled to move in.

Occupants of The Den usually find themselves in the company of Nikita Wolfpaw, Foxy Malone, FoxofFire, Dash and Milesway on Tuesdays for Coffee Night. They also get together with the aforementioned furs for random rollerblading sessions at a skate rink in Ipswich, which also include Spex and Nightintodream.

People who have invaded the house and stayed a week or more include Hammond, PsychoSmiley, Tursiae, Hendikins and Moreth, who liked it so much he moved in.

Carina Heights House

• The toilet is in the living room.
• Despite the fact that The Asylum is more appropriately named for this quirk, The Den has bars on each window.
• The Den hosts two different sofas which reside on the balcony with the extra fridge.
• There have been claims of the doorbell being haunted, as it goes off with nobody at the front door to ring it, sometimes even at 2am.
• As with many typical furry gatherings, the Denizens and their guests usually congregate in doorways or the hallway for conversations, sometimes even sitting on the floor in the hallway where the three bedroom doors and the bathroom door meet to carry out a conversation.
• On the sidewalk in front of the house next door 'This way to the Den' is carved into the concrete. In front of the actual Den, part of the sidewalk has the Denizen's names carved into the concrete, as well as 'Furry Pride', 'DV *heart* PS' and a pawprint.
• Misty, Bingo, Dimruthien and Jaffa are stars in a documentary made by university students about furries. The documentary is called The Velvet Underground.

Arana Hills House

• There are six bedrooms, one of which does not have any windows.
• Due to not being able to drill holes in the floor, everyone's net cables go -outside- the house and re-enter downstairs to join the router.
• There are three cats - Sambuca (Boo) who belongs to Kiba, Disaster (Dizzy) who belongs to Misty, and Tiger (Kitty) who belongs to Al.
• A large unfriendly dog is known to appear in the backyard at random times during the night.
• Peoples congregate in the hallways in this house as well, usually near the top of the stairs that lead to the lower level.
• The mailbox barely stands upright.
• The walls and floors are notoriously thin, leading to some people hearing things they wish they hadn't.
